2008 Suzuki Grand Vitara: P0011 Code & Timing Chain Replacement

We recently had this 2008 Suzuki Grand Vitara (2.4-litre J24B engine) roll into the workshop displaying a diagnostic trouble code: P0011 Camshaft Position Timing Over Advanced or System Performance. This code points to an over-advanced camshaft position, which is a classic sign of stretched timing chains!

To get this Suzuki back to perfect health, we removed the valve and timing covers to access the internal components. We stripped out the worn parts and installed a complete new timing chain kit. This upgrade included fitting a new chain tensioner, replacement guides, and a new exhaust cam drive gear to get the mechanical timing exactly right.

To wrap up the job, we fully flushed and bled the cooling system and completed a fresh engine oil and filter change. This ensures all the new internal timing components operate in completely clean fluid. The engine is now running smoothly, the fault code is cleared, and this Vitara is ready to hit the road again!

Have you got a fault code displaying on your dashboard? Give us a call so we can help.
